Poo-Pourri Call of the Wild Review, Photos

It happens. You're visiting someone, or you have roommates, or you're at work. Yes, I'm talking about #2 -- a natural occurrence, but it doesn't leave the pleasantest reminder of its happening. Enter Poo-Pourri($17.97 CAD, 4 oz), the "Before-You-Go" Toilet Spray, which will hide traces of bathroom episodes. I was given the opportunity to review it by Nail Polish Canada -- who now sells it -- and of course I accepted, because when else can I talk about such a topic? ;) Keep reading to see what I thought!

You might have already seen the commercials for Poo-Pourri. I found them pretty funny, and the idea of a toilet spray that actually hides the scent instead of covering it in a cloying cloud of perfume intrigued me. Instead of said cloying fragrance, Poo-Pourri uses essential oils to cover the scent. You simply spray 3-5 times in the toilet before you go, and voila! No more closing the door and waiting 20 minutes until someone can use it again.

Call of the Wild is one of Poo-Pourri's scent options, and it smells like wild ruby red grapefruit. I love citrus scents, and this one is very fruity, almost berry in nature. I was a bit skeptical that it could work well, as I dislike air fresheners which are so strong and don't even really mask the smell. Poo-Pourri's essential oil blends actually do mask the scent. You can smell a bit of the, uh, unpleasant notes if you're looking for them, but overall, I get a fruity, citrus scent, which does linger in the bathroom for 10-20 minutes, but isn't cloying. It also works fairly well as a general air freshener spray, but I do think it functions its best before you go.

I absolutely love Poo-Pourri's cheekiness (pun intended) in their packaging. They aren't straying from the reason behind their product. Plus, it's eco-friendly and made in the USA, and hits the checkmarks of conscious consumers. For almost $20, it is a bit on the expensive side, but 3-5 sprays isn't a lot of product so a bottle will last a while. It also works way better than standard aerosol sprays, while smelling much, much better.

There's even a cheeky gauge to show how much product is left.

Poo-Pourri has a few other scents and sizes available. I think this would be great for a guest bathroom, if you have roommates, and/or if you share a bathroom like me. It's a novelty product which is actually quite practical in use. And it works! I probably wouldn't gift this to somebody, unless you both have a very good understanding of such matters.

You can buy Poo-Pourri at Nail Polish Canada. Shipping within Canada is a flat rate of $3, or free for orders over $25!

Have you tried Poo-Pourri?
