CoverGirl The SuperSizer Mascara and Intensify Me! Liquid Liner

Hello! Makeup reviews time! Yay! Also, it's December and how did that happen?! Pretty sure I'll never get used this "time passing by quickly" thing... Today I have a review of CoverGirl's The SuperSizer Mascara by Lashblast* and Intensify Me! by Lashblast Liquid Liner(each ~$9.99 CAD). See below for my thoughts on both!

CoverGirl The SuperSizer Mascara

The SuperSizer Mascara claims to provide "400% corner-to-corner volume" and instructs to twirl the brush as you apply. While I did I find some extra volume added by twirling the brush, I'm also clumsy and end up with mascara on my browbone, so I preferred to simply apply it as normal (up and down horizontal motion). I readily admit this could have affected my results, so your mileage may vary with this mascara if you use the twirling method.

The wand for this mascara is interesting -- it has plastic bristles that are longer at the tip of the wand. I usually see brushes with the exact opposite in bristle distribution, so this is a neat design.

My natural lashes are fairly long on their own and I look for the full combo in a mascara: more length, volume, separation, and can hold a curl. Despite The SuperSizer's claims, I found I received more length than volume from using it in the up-and-down motion that I'm used to. I did receive a bit more volume with the recommended twirling method, but again, I'm too clumsy to always do that.

The mascara lasts most of the day (the version I received isn't waterproof so my curl did droop a bit as time went on), and I didn't have issues with smudging. The wand's design is good for getting each lash, especially the outer corners, and I found it works pretty well at bottom lashes too if you maneuvre it so only the shorter bristles are hitting them.

Overall, The SuperSizer is not my favourite mascara, but it's pretty good, especially for the price (and CG mascaras go on sale often). I'd definitely recommend it if you aren't as clumsy as I am and/or already do the "twirling" method!

CoverGirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner

I am quickly learning to properly use liquid liner! The Intensify Me! Liquid Liner also has a neat design -- it's a felt tip where one side is narrow, and the other is thick. There was a slight learning curve to this, but once I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed the design. The liner is opaque black and lasts all day with no flaking, and I experienced no issues with the felt tip drying out or losing its shape. I also find I can get a pretty good cat eye from this!

Intensify Me! also received a coveted 5-star rating at Beautypedia, and in my experience, they are usually pretty spot on when it comes to their 4- or 5-star ratings. This is a really good liner at a great price, and I definitely recommend it to liquid liner veterans and newbies alike.

In case you're wondering why my face is so much paler than my hand from the swatches -- that's what happens when you can't stick your head in a lightbox and you're working with minimal light. ;))

You can find CoverGirl products at most drugstores, mass market stores, and online at Well.ca

Have you tried either of these products? What's your favourite CG mascara?
