SexyBox July 2015 Subscription Box Review, Photos

Monday, July 20, 2015

When I first saw the email subject line offering me to review SexyBox, I was a bit confused as to what it was. and whether it would fit in with the blog. My first thought went to, well, adult store items, but SexyBox offers something a bit tamer: a subscription box containing a new lingerie outfit each month. Colour me intrigued!

The details:

SexyBox arrives as a discrete, plain black box, though I should note that my Canadian customs form had "lingerie" written in the description of contents box. I'm not sure if that was just due to mine being a review box, but I think it would be better for privacy if "clothing" or something similar were written, while still adhering to customs standards. The inside of the box contained my lingerie outfit wrapped in red tissue paper. It's important to note that everyone will receive the same outfit each month, in their size, except for the welcome outfit (first month) The outfit will always be a surprise each month.

Here is the outfit I received:

Note the red is less vibrant in real life. It also included a simple matching thong:

Both pieces are size small and 95% nylon, 5% spandex. The bustier's boning is fabric lined metal (I'm assuming), so it won't work as a "real" corset, but it works for sexy lingerie. ;)

Here are a couple more pictures of the bustier:

I don't think you can go wrong with classic red and black for lingerie! This outfit is comfortable and definitely sexy, and I love the lace and bow detailing. One minor issues is that the "boning" can get bent out of shape, but it's easy enough to smooth out.

The outfit's brand is Oh La La Cheri, and I did some sleuthing and found the outfit available for wholesale here. I'm quite happy to see this is from their 2015-16 collection, and is likely on target with the monthly subscription price.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with July's SexyBox! It's an interesting concept, especially if you don't have time to or want to buy lingerie in-store/online. I think the element of surprise is a lot of fun, but of course, it is a risk not knowing what your outfit will look like. I think it's especially great for an upcoming wedding, anniversary, birthday, etc... or of course just as a lovely, spicy monthly surprise. I really like that Sexybox offers sizes from XS to XXXL, because many fashion/lingerie subscription boxes are limited in their sizing. The monthly cost is also around par with other similar subs -- of course a better deal for those in the US, but with the coupon code for $19.95 (plus shipping) for your first month, it's less of a dent in the wallet. I do think the quality of the outfit I received is the worth the price (even taking into account shipping to Canada).

If you want to try out SexyBox, be sure to use one of the following coupon codes: SexyStephanie40 -- $15 off your first purchase (bringing your first month down to $19.95 USD); Sexy3box -- $20 off a quarterly (3 month) subscription.
