annabelle perfect bronze in sun breeze and blushon in rosebud

It is hot today on the Island -- 33°C with the humidex. It wasn't even that long ago we had winter weather, and the most snow we've ever had on record. Needless to say, I've been shoved full swing into summer weather, and what's better for summer than powder bronzers and bright blushes?

While the Annabelle Blushon blushes($7.95 CAD, 3g) and Perfect Bronze bronzers* ($7.95 CAD, 10g) aren't new, with spring they released new shades, including Sun Breeze and Rosebud (above).

Perfect Bronze in Sun Breeze is a sheer, orange-ish brown bronzer. I love the sun design on the powder (it's embossed, not an overspray)! This isn't marketed as matte, but I don't detect any sparkles/shimmer either in the compact or on the skin, which is great for those of us who prefer matte bronzers.

While Sun Breeze may be sheer, it works well for my pale skin. I prefer a subtle bronzed look, anyway, and even though this shade is a bit orange, it still gives me a natural look. Darker skintones would probably benefit more from the darker shades in the line, like Sun Heat and Sun Chic.

Blushon in Rosebud is a fairly pigmented, blue-toned pink. While not as intense as, say, theBalm's InStain Blushes, there's still enough pigment that I prefer to use a stipple brush to avoid clown cheeks. It's a really lovely and flattering shade -- probably best for cool-toned folks -- and I've been reaching for it often! There's some sparkle and shimmer in the formula, but it doesn't translate on the face.

Blushons don't have the cute designs like the Perfect Bronzes or Biggy Bronzers, but the packaging is still sturdy and chic. Rosebud is one of five new shades (with Lotus, Peony, Spring Petal, and Ibiscus being the other four), and actually the first Annabelle blush I've tried. I'm impressed with the shade, pigmentation, and staying power (lasts all day on me, same as the Perfect Bronze, with some fading which is typical on my skin). I definitely want more!

And here's a look wearing both. Sorry for iPhone front camera quality!

I've been enjoying both these products, and I love how inexpensive they are. Definitely pick one (or more) up the next time you need to treat yo'self!

Annabelle products can be found at most drugstores, mass market stores (like Walmart, Loblaws), and online
