Amie Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash, Bright Eyes Very Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover, and New Bloom Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes Review, Photos

I'm back with more skin-loving goodies from Amie! Here's a cleanser and two different kinds of makeup removers, all in colour-coded, adorable packaging:

Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash* ($10, 150ml): A lovely pink cream cleanser, Morning Clear contains mayflower and elderberry meant to decongest the skin, natural sugar moisturizers, and orange blossom and raspberry which tones and refreshes. It's also 100% soap-free. I found it does its job well, preventing acne without drying out my skin. It has a nice citrus scent (probably from the orange blossom, but it also contains fragrance). It doesn't completely remove makeup though, so be sure to use a remover beforehand if you're wearing any.

New Bloom Gentle Cleansing Wipes* ($6.50, 25 wipes): I used to only rarely use cleansing wipes, but lately (due to laziness), I've been trying a few kinds. I'm really liking New Bloom, which contains cranberry, pomegranate, and green tea extracts, and is also 100% fragrance-free (yay!) The wipes are a good size, and $6.50 for 25 of them is a fair price. They are effective at removing makeup and don't dry out my skin afterwards. They also don't sting my eyes, and a lot of makeup removing products do.

Ingredients:

Here's a little test I did to gauge the efficiency at removing different types of products:

Products, from left to right: Stila Smudge Stick in Purple Tang (this is waterproof), MAKE UP FOR EVER Graphic Liner*, Esoteric Aesthetic Loose Eye Shadow in Malkuth*, MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Rouge Lipstick in 3 Medium Natural Beige* (also waterproof).

One pass, lightly

Second pass, more pressure used

Third pass

You can see some pressure does need to be used to fully remove makeup. The wipe struggled more with the liners and lipstick, which in my experience is generally the case.

Bright Eyes Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover* ($8, 125ml): Bright Eyes isn't my favourite makeup remover, as it is very gentle. It contains meadow cornflower, chamomile, grape water, and cucumber, with no irritating or harsh ingredients. It would be best used on light makeup days, as quite some pressure is involved when removing other makeup like liner and mascara. Still, it doesn't irritate my eyes, and many a so-called "gentle" makeup remover has.

And test:

Same products as before.

One pass, lightly

Second pass, more pressure used

Third pass

More pressure is definitely needed to remove liner. It did pretty well on the loose eyeshadow, so it will definitely be useful for washing away swatches. The lipstick it did less well on, but keep in mind the lipstick is waterproof. All in all, a decent, gentle eye makeup remover, but it won't remove everything.

I know I will be scoping out the facial cleansing wipes on my next drugstore trip! You can find Amie's products exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart. Check out my other reviews on their skincare line!
