Shoppers Birthday Haul: Quo, Bioderma, Lise Waiter and More

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Since it's been over three weeks since my birthday and subsequent haulage, I'd better write about it, huh? I received some Shoppers Drug Mart money from my lovely parents (who think I already own too much makeup, ha, what crazy talk!) and with a 20x the points day, I grabbed some necessary things.

Quo Blush Fusion in Jazzberry ($16)

This is a liquid/cream blush from the summer collection, and I grabbed this shade without testing it first. 'lo and behold, it's a glitterbomb. D: The base shade is beautiful, but it's loaded with sparkle. I'm hoping I can make it work (note, companies: LAY OFF THE GLITTER IN BLUSHES, PLEASE!)

Quo Face Palette in Sunset Beach ($21, on sale now for lower)

This face palette reminds me of Urban Decay's Naked spinoff face trio things, but cheaper and since it was from the spring collection, you can get it for even less now. I'd be sad I paid more than I had to, as Quo's collections invariably go on clearance, but sometimes everything good has been snatched up by then. Each section of this palette has some sparkle, though thankfully not a ton, but I'd still refrain from wearing each section at the same time.

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micelle Solution ($6.95 travel size)

Yep, I'm jumping on the Sensibio train. I've tried the Sébium version before and didn't care a lot for it -- it's fragranced and stung my eyes. Sensibio though? Gold. I can see why everyone loves it!

Lise Watier Portfolio Professional Correctors in Les Beiges ($32)

Lise Watier is my new cosmetics crush. I need high-coverage concealer for my dark circles, and I figured I should try out this cult favourite. I decided to go with Les Beiges instead of the classic one with the lilac and green correctors, because I wasn't sure if I'd use them often. I've been using every shade in this palette aside from the brown (meant for sculpting), and I'm really liking it!

GOSH Frosted Nail Laquer in Frosted Soft Coral ($7)

Here's one of GOSH's entries into the textured nail polish trend. I think this is along the lines of Zoya's Pixie Dust polishes, and it's super, super pretty. I wasn't interested in the trend in the beginning, but the glittery, pretty shades have caught my eye. This is a major PITA to remove, though!

Maybelline Baby Lips in Oh! Orange and Strike a Rose ($2.79, on sale)

I think I'm addicted to Baby Lips now. I grabbed these because they are shades I didn't have and they were on sale (as on sale as they can be, Canadian markups be damned).

Rimmel Apocalips in Stellar ($7.49, on sale)

Another "sale" item, and the second shade in my teensy Apocalips collection (I also own Aurora). This is a lovely coral pink, and I highly recommend this line. Review forthcoming!

The SA also gave me a couple Vichy samples, which will be added to the Sample Killah roster! You should sign up for that too if you have a ton of samples to kill use up. There's $50 in the pot for one lucky participant!

Also, here are the Sephora samples I received when I ordered the Sun Safety Kit:

Smashbox Full Exposure Palette ($58 full-size)

One of those cardboard samples with 10 eyeshadows I'll get a couple uses out of. I like Smashbox and don't need any more neutral palettes, but I'm happy to try it. More Sample Killah product!

Sunday Riley Start Over Active Eye Cream ($89 full-size)

I certainly hope this sample doesn't blow my mind because no way do I want to spend $89 on eye cream...

NEST Dahlia & Vines Eau de Parfum ($30-78 full-size)

I was inspired by Nicole's review of the NEST Eau de Parfum Coffret to pick out this sample. Now I kind of want the coffret too!

Bonus stuff:

bareMinerals Original Foundation + teeny tiny kabuki brush

This was one of the Canadian offers when you spend $35 or more.

Make Up For Ever Birthday Gift

One of the reasons I ordered from Sephora! The lipstick is a good every day shade (though I might save it for fall as it's a bit dark), and the mascara is nice. I have the new waterproof version of it to test so I will be doing a comparison post soon!

Have you tried any of these products? Done any hauling lately? Let me know!
