On Turning 25: What I've Learned About Beauty, Blogging, & Life

Friday, May 23, 2014

Hey everybody! Today is my 25th birthday, and to celebrate, I thought I'd share a handful of things I've learned on beauty, blogging, and life:

  • A bold lip colour can put you in a great mood.
  • Lash combs are necessary when your mascara goes on clumpy.
  • Defined brows really pull together every look.
  • Sunscreen is the most important product you can put on your skin.
  • People can be brought together simply by their love of cosmetics.
  • Online shopping is a great way to score deals.
  • Indies are awesome and you'll likely score some real gems.

  • One of the most important things is to keep a level head.
  • Don't compare yourself to others; instead, seek out ideas and ways to improve.
  • Immerse yourself in the community by joining social media sites like Twitter, and adding your blog to directories like the Canadian Beauty Bloggers.
  • Write a to-do list and keep update it daily.
  • Success won't happen over night -- you really must work for it.

  • Sometimes, it's ok to cry
  • Drama happens, but it's important not to get caught up in it.
  • It's fine to eat that slice of cake (or onion rings, potato chips...) on occasion.
  • Always learn from your mistakes.
  • It's easy to get caught up in all the negativity in the world, but there really are good people out there.
  • Helping others, including animals, is incredibly worthwhile.
  • Don't be afraid to trust somebody.

Thanks for all the support, everyone. What things have you learned about life, blogging, and/or beauty? Feel free to share in the comments below!
