Born Pretty Store Flower Water Nail Decals (Y139C) Review, Photos

Saturday, August 10, 2013

I was recently contacted by Born Pretty Store to review some of their products. They sell things such as nail stickers, studs, decals, polish, and more. I'd seen water nail decals used by Jasmine and I really wanted to try them myself. I chose this set* and today I will be showing you the middle design from the picture above, Y139C.

I layered the decals over China Glaze's For Audrey (probably my all-time favourite cream shade). I found the water decals pretty easy to use. A pack comes with one sheet of 20 decals and there are instructions on the back.

I'm not sure why the decals only came up white on my nails (and the website photo shows them on the nails with black in the photo), but I still find them very pretty. The design/sheet is good quality.

I found the printed instructions easy to follow, but I do wish I had looked up a video tutorial before applying the water decals. I was applying the cut-out piece directly to my nail, when it's much easier to first press them against a surface like your hand, then pick them up with tweezers or your thumb and then press them on your nails. D'oh! I found positioning the decals kind of tricky, so I will definitely be using that trick in the future!

The water decals do stay on well, though they can be lifted up from the nail before topcoat is applied. Topcoat seals them and they won't come off until your polish does (they can be removed with polish remover). I tried the decals on both the cream polish and a shimmer (Zoya Amy) with no issues, though I'm not sure how well they'd work on a glitter or textured polish.

Water decals are a great way to make a mani interesting, and Born Pretty Store has many inexpensive designs. What I also like is that if you smudge your polish (ahem), have bubbling issues, etc., a water decal can easily cover up those flaws. I will definitely be trying more designs in the future!

Have you tried water nail decals before?
