SOTD: Circassian by DarlingClandestine Review, PhotosTuesday, October 23, 2012
Hey there! Today I bring you a review of another scent by DarlingClandestine!
This is the solid version of Circassian ($9 USD for a 1/2 oz tin). It's described as:
"Odd and wondrous, these trinkets the suitors bring—astonishing flowers that look like paper birds, jasmine tea and black coffee, a costly box of chocolates with a red silk ribbon. You once saw a tiger in Bangkok, a riot in Paris, a machine at Coney Island that they said could really fly. The exotic butters in your fantastic hair, the livelihood you've adopted and the orchards you left behind. Your love is not a curiosity—it's a marvel. Make them earn it.
Circassian is a warm chocolaty fragrance with intriguing notes of black coffee and amber and blossoms. A multitude of different scent elements and weeks of methodical alchemy make Circassian no ordinary perfume blend -- it's a truly inimitable fragrance, part of my Calliope Crash line."
Is it any surprise I adore this scent? Coffee and chocolate are two of my favourite things and I love anything that smells like them. Per usual DC fashion, this is anything but your typical chocolate/coffee scent. There's a certain rich, deep feeling to this scent. On initial application, it smells like the best coffee drink you'll ever have, made with the highest quality beans and cocoa. I wish I could melt this down and drink it (note: do not attempt this).
Circassian evokes memories of staying up until the wee hours of the morning on a winter's night, nursing a second or third cup of coffee or hot chocolate. It reminds me of warmth and being wrapped up in a blanket, having a conversation about anything with a companion. It fades to a whisper of the initial scent, like falling asleep as the sun rises.
As with all DC scents, you only need to apply small amount of Circassian and it lasts for hours. I adore and highly recommend it!
