Shiro Halloween 2012 Collection Photos, Swatches

Thursday, October 18, 2012

Hey everyone! Can you believe Halloween is right around the corner? I feel like just yesterday I was sweltering. I have to say, fall has been a nice relief from the summer's humidity!

I recently placed an order from Shiro for the October COTM and the Halloween lip gloss. Samples of the Halloween eyeshadows were graciously included in my order! I'm very happy because they are magnificent colours.

Shiro's Halloween collection -- inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas -- consists of four loose eyeshadows and a lip gloss. Like the colour of the month, it's only available for the month of October, so get it soon!

Below are swatches of the entire collection. The shadows are all taken in sunlight and swatched over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Thanks goes to Mandy of Prettymaking for teaching me the tape trick ;) Click each shadow's name to go to its listing.

Pumpkin King

"I, Jack, the Pumpkin King
Just can't wait until next Halloween
'Cause I've got some new ideas that will really make them scream
And by God, I'm really gonna give it all my might!

Very blackened copper packed with orange sparkles. Lip-safe!

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, calcium aluminum borosilicate, silica."

This is gorgeous. It reminds me of the October COTM, but it's darker and more Halloween-ish. Would make a great crease colour or smokey eye!

Ragdoll

"I sense there's something in the wind
That feels like tragedy's at hand.
And though I'd like to stand by him,
Can't shake this feeling that I have...
The worst is just around the bend.

Lightly faded rust matte base filled with lilac and blue sparkles. Lip-safe!

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, copper powder, calcium aluminum borosilicate, silica."

This really does remind me of Sally! It's not a colour I tend to wear, but nonetheless, it's very pretty. I love the sparkles.

Oogie Boogie

"The sound of rolling dice to me is music in the air
'Cause I'm a gambling Boogie Man, although I don't play fair.
It's much more fun, I must confess, with lives on the line.
Not mine, of course, but yours, old boy - now that'll be just fine!

Swampy green-beige with a muted velvety finish; the intensity of the green tones depends on the light. Not lip-safe.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, chromium oxide."

Such a cool colour! It looks beigey in the bag but it really transforms on the skin. I love the metallic feel of it as well. Definitely a shade to check out!

Finkelstein

"One part genius, two parts evil, tied together with a generous splash of madness and a particular fondness for wormswort.

Somewhat sheer, ultra-pale ghoulish green-yellow-grey with blue shimmer. Not lip-safe.

Ingredients: mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, chromium oxide."

This is such an unassuming shadow until it's applied. I think it would make an excellent highlight shade or even lid colour. This is my favourite of the four!

This is Halloween

"Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?

Color: Medium shimmery red-orange.
Flavor: Chocolate pumpkin cheesecake.
Opacity: May be applied moderately opaque or built up to full opacity.
Stains: Will stain clothes but not lips - please use with caution!

Ingredients: hydrogenated polyisobutene, ethylene/propylene/styrene copolymer, butylene/ethylene/styrene copolymer, organic jojoba oil, cocoa butter, mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, vitamin E, flavor."

It tastes like chocolate. Pumpkin. Cheesecake!!!!

...It's also a very lovely red-orange gloss. It actually wears like a lipstick, with no stickiness or drying whatsoever. The colour leans more orange than red, and when I first apply it to my lips it's quite dark and rather brownish. I like to blot it to get the wonderful red-orange yumminess.  I really, really, really hope more shades are made because the formula is amazing!

Shadows can be bought in full-size jars (2 grams) for $6 USD each, mini jars (1 gram) at $4 each, or in sample baggies (1/8 tsp) for $1 each.

The gloss can be bought in a full-size tube (15 ml) for $7, or in a sample jar (approx. 2.5 ml) for $4.

There are also
different options for buying all the colours and lip gloss together at a discount. Yay!

What do you think of this collection? Anything catch your eye? I'd love to hear from you!

Samples provided free with order. Lip gloss bought myself. All opinions are my own.
