A nail look that's been gaining a lot of popularity lately is the "caviar" manicure, which involves adding tiny beads to your nails which look like caviar. Many bloggers have recreated their own version, but the earliest known creation was by Dashing Diva last year.
Ciaté, a nail polish brand, has created their own caviar nails sets, called simply "Caviar Nails." These cost $25 USD for one nail polish and bottle of beads, while according to sephora.com, their Paint Pot nail polish costs $15 each. Apparently their beads cost $10, which could be easily bought for less at any craft store, but that's not the only issue here.
Ciaté recently sent emails to a few bloggers telling them they could not use the term 'caviar nails,' which apparently they are in the process of trademarking. Not only do they not even have the trademark yet, "caviar nails" have existed prior to their product being released. You can read the email here.
In light of this, several bloggers created "Fish Egg Friday" to show off their own, DIY caviar -- er, fish egg (sorry, Ciaté!) manicures.
